Designer bedspreads

I told earlier that my next post is on kids wear,I am still working on it.So in the meanwhile enjoy with these designer spreads.

Designer Bedspreads – "Not Always Expensive Bedding"

Bed spread is a top cover of a bed,put on for tidiness or display rather than warmth. Its an outer covering, usually decorative for a bed.use of bed spread is an extremely ancient custom. The first bed covers were probably of fur, later versions include every sort of refinement that weaving or embroidery could produce.

Here I am talking about Bed skirt & some designer bed spreads.

Bed skirt (also bed ruffledust ruffle or valance): A decorative piece used to cover the boxspring and legs of the bed. It fits between the mattress and boxspring and hangs to the floor.

Bed spread: A bed cover with sides that go to the floor. This does not require a bed skirt

When it comes to designer bedspreads some of the most famous names in fashion and decorating come to mind.  Any bedroom décor is enhanced by using a designer bedspread.
Designer bedspreads can add a quality and elegance to your bedroom like nothing else. Since the bed is often the focal point of a bedroom, making sure the spread on the bed is just right for the room décor is important to making the bedroom, where you spend a great deal of your life, feel comfortable and inviting.

"Here is the country style bedspread I made to enhance the look of
my bedroom".
I love blue color and thought of decorating my bedroom with blue.

Are you interested in making this bed spread? It's easy & simple!
Tips are given at the end of this post.

Bed spread make your bedroom highly wonderful and striking. Bed Sets are available in different fabrics such as linen, cotton, satin, silk, jersey, flannel etc. Bedding Sets come in various lovely prints such as checks, stripes, and linings, floral, traditional, and contemporary patterns.

Bed spread with prints can really give a fresh new look to any bedroom decor. Granted, bed sheets in traditional white and ivory colors are beautiful, but you'll really feel like you have a brand new bedroom when you go for some color, some bold designs, something wonderfully new and invigorating on your bed!
How about something like: Dots... Pinstripes... Bold stripes... Cubes Paisley....or even Floral.

If your bedroom design is on the traditional side, you could select sheets sets in a variety of small prints that will fit with the conservative decor.

What about a hotel collection set. Maybe a floral approach, maybe bold stripes where the color itself can be traditional, but where the stripes say- hey I'm solid, dependable and still have my own fun, big sense of style!

If your bedroom has a tropical design, you could try something like cheery bright prints on your sheets with larger prints like hibiscus flowers or palms, or even sunsets. This may be fun to try! You'll find some of the most luxurious choices of colors also!

How about something new and bold, like: deep purple, pearl, copper, or peach..? Whatever your taste might be, you can find prints that will work quite well and match, or better yet, compliment your bedroom decor.

Some of the prints you can find in bed sets for children include such favorite characters as Snoopy and Charlie Brown, pirates, fairies, ballerinas, horses, fire trucks, sports themes of all kinds, and more.

Designer bedding embellished with lace, monograms, appliques, and other types of fancy trim are generally very expensive. Not everyone is willing to pay designer prices for stylish bed sheets and pillowcases, but not everyone has to. here are some ideas,If you’re capable of using an iron or sewing stitches by hand, you can create the beautiful designer bed spreads and pillowcases you’ve always wanted.

Appliques
There are sew-on and iron-on fabric appliques in almost every design and color, and they can turn ordinary sheets and pillowcases into extraordinary designer bedding. Why pay upwards of $100 for a set of monogrammed or appliqued designer bedding when you can easily add professional looking embellishments?"So save money & live better".
Applique on a bed spread

As I told many things about applique in my earlier post about Applique.I dont think I have to repeat the same thing here. Consider choosing monograms, small flowers, ribbons, butterflies, or any other pattern to match your bedding and your style. Appliques look lovely when applied along the top edge of a flat sheet or pillowcases. Use your creativity and sense of style, and design a beautiful set of sheets you’ll be proud to display.

Lace
If you’ve always wanted frilly sheets and pillowcases for your bed, consider adding lace. Lace is very easy to attach to the edges or along the hems of bed sheets and pillowcases, and there are numerous colors, patterns, and styles to choose from.

Its not necessary that you should have sewing machine to attach lace to the edges and hems of bed sheets. Lace can be easily attached by hand stitching. Choose thread that closely matches the color of the lace, and double it for added strength. Attach the lace using short stitches for a designer look without the designer price.

Looped Ruffles
Ruffles are simple to sew-on by hand, but you don’t have to buy ready-made ruffles. Ruffles are easy to create using seam binding, and they will add a touch of creativity, color, and style to ordinary bed sheets

You can mix and match two colors or u can also do it in the same color.Use your individual sense of style as well as your imagination. When designing and embellishing sheets, the possibilities are truly endless!

Here is an instruction to make ruffles by hand stitch.
Make evenly spaced loops approximately one or two inches apart, all the way across. Your sheets will look amazing, and no one will ever guess that you added the ruffles by hand.
You can also do ruffles with layers. Here is an example.

Modern designs for bedspread

You can get some more ideas by visiting some of the store who sell designer bed spreads.
Here I am talking about bed skirts. If you do not like the ruffles or gathers from the top of the bed.you can go for bed skirt. This is also one of the way to decorate your bed.

Bed Skirts
A bed skirt is a decorative fabric covering, that hangs from bottom of a beds mattress to the floor. The origins of the bed skirts were not fully known but it is hypothesized that the bed skirt was developed to hide unsightly looking bed spots & to conceal the area under the bed so that it could be used for storage.
Probably the main reason anyone purchase a bed skirt is for its style. You can find some of the bed skirts in
JC penny,Target,bed and bath stores.

Here are some of the examples of bed skirts:

Here are the sewing instructions for the bed spread I made for my bed.
Do you have little time to decorate your house?and do you have interest?then half of your work is done!

1.You have to decide which color or pattern do you like OR which color combination will suite your other bedroom accessories.

2.First you have to measure your bed size with measuring tape & note it down.
   * Measure the length of your bed.
   * Measure the width
   * And then the depth.( from the edge of your bed seam till the bottom or the floor)
3.I used totally 5 yards to complete the bedspread for my queen sized bed and 2 pillow cases.
4.Then go and get your fabric.
5.Cut the fabric according to your bed size( you have to cut only the length and width measurement of the bed from seam to seam.)& leave seam allowances to attach the ruffle.
6.Then cut the fabric for the ruffle,.here you have to take double the  length of the bed.And double the width of the bed to make gathers.
7.Doing ruffle is so easy.If you have a sewing machine then put a long stitch over the length of the fabric & leave little bit more length of thread at the end and cut it.Then pull the bobbin thread from  both the edge of the fabric & your gathers are ready!
8.Then attach this gathers to the main sheet.(both for  length and width)
Your country style bed spread is ready!
You can even decorate more with attaching some laces at the bottom of the gathers.
